Do you compete? Get ready for the Finals with us!

The most beautiful time of the year for competitors is here: the national, regional, and county finals are coming. Now it’s more important than ever to perform at your peak, because this is what you’ve been dreaming of throughout the season — to prove yourself, to put that crown on your season.

How to Get Your Horse in Top Shape for the Finals?

If you’ve already been feeding your horse a complete diet with a complex feed, electrolytes, joint support, amino acids, and it’s performing well—lively, strong, and focused—then you just need to continue what you’ve started. But what if you’ve begun to notice that your horse seems more tired, stiff, doesn’t move as freely, coughs once or twice, or training sessions are simply taking more out of it?

That’s when it’s worth supplementing the diet where it’s lacking. Think it through, review what your horse gets every day, and identify what it doesn’t get—what it might still need.

To help you figure it out, here’s a little guide:

  • High-quality hay and forage should always be the foundation of the diet.
  • If your horse is only getting raw grains alongside hay, it’s time to switch to a complex feed, such as Top Condition, which provides the necessary vitamins, trace elements, and easily absorbable energy—without overexcitement.
  • If your horse is already on feed but no other supplements, then consider adding an electrolyte, like Re-Hydra. Loss of salts and minerals through sweating can lead to fatigue and muscle stiffness, which you may already be noticing. A complete electrolyte must contain potassium, sodium, chloride, and magnesium.
  • Regardless of the above, if your horse breathes harder, noisier, or coughs occasionally, it’s worth using an airway cleanser. Resp Elixir can deal with these mild symptoms within a few days, significantly improving your horse’s stamina.
  • Independent of the rest, if you hear joint clicking, or notice stiffness and wear, and your horse hasn’t received any joint supplements yet despite months of hard training and competing, then a bottle of Vita Joint can make movement much more comfortable.
  • Finals are multi-day events, so it’s essential to avoid running into the biggest challenges with a sore, stiff horse after the first day. With occasional use of NeutraHorse, you can prevent muscle soreness and keep your horse moving freely and pain-free all weekend long.
  • And last but not least, don’t forget the crucial role of B-vitamins, which support the nervous system. If your horse seems a little less lively, Multihorse may be the solution.

We hope this helps you get the very best out of your horse, so all you need to focus on is memorizing the course and performing your task—while your horse is in truly perfect condition.

We wish every rider the best of luck at the Finals, and we look forward to seeing many of you at the events sponsored by Meglio Horse!

In the opening photo and below you can see Papillon van’t Janshof, or Papi, with his talented rider Dóri Barnák. Papi has been part of the Meglio family for years, and his great form speaks for itself. They started the season at 110 cm and have already completed their first 125 cm course. Congratulations!
