Beet pulp is the fibrous part of sugar beet that remains after the sugar and liquid have been removed. It is mechanically pressed, dried, and then pelleted. The fiber contained within it is well-digestible, making it a good starch-free (max. 1%) energy source for horses, and its sugar content is also extremely low (max. 5%). It is a popular feed that can be used as a structural carbohydrate, helping with weight gain and energy supplementation without causing over-excitability. It supports the digestive system thanks to its high, outstanding quality fiber content.
Sugar beet is significantly more digestible than hay and contains a similar amount of energy (calories) as grains and conditioning feeds, which is why it is often called a "super fiber."
